Baseball

The baseball games scheduled vs Edgewood has been cancelled both JV and Varsity.

Boys Track at Mariemont Invitational

Congratulations to the boys track and field team on their 9th place finish of 15 teams at the two-day Mariemont Invitational. Scoring for the boys was Alex Ariapad in the 800 meter run for a 3rd place finish with a time of 2:05 and a 4th place finish in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:48. Placing 4th in the 4x100 Relay, with a time of 47.72, was Aaron Pollard, Jake Gundler, Matt Forsee and Brian Paskins. Also placing 4th, with a time of 3:40 in the 4x400 Relay, was Brian Paskins, CJ Grogan, Colt Reese and Alex Ariapad. Justin Patrick picked up a 6th place finish for the Discus with a through of 106-10. The team is looking forward to competing in the SBAAC league meet next Tuesday and Wednesday.

Spring Sports Banquet

The Spring Sports banquet will be May 23rd at 6:30 in the Gym. There will not be a meal for this banquet as it is the last day of school and we have early release. We hope the athletes will be at this as well as the parents as this will be the last athletic banquet for our seniors.

GIRLS TRACK MARIEMONT INVITATIONAL

GIRLS TRACK MARIEMONT INVITE Congratulations to the girls track team on their 2nd place finish in what will be their toughest regular season meet of the year. The girls traveled to Mariemont last night to defeat 11 teams from all over the city losing only to McNick by 6 points. The girls 4X400 team set a new school record as well as a new Mariemont Invitational meet record, running a 4:06.32 shattering both records by 3 seconds. Olivia Behymer was named runner of the meet and continues to be recognized as one of the top runners in the tri state area. 4th - 4X800 – Glenn, Anderson, Barcheski, Behymer 100 Dash – Flenniken 3rd & Hardin 6th 2nd - 2X400 – Flenniken, Hardin, Owens, M. New Richmond Boys Tennis Team defeats Goshen 5-0, Claims Conference Title

The New Richmond boys tennis team concluded the conference schedule on a strong note by defeating Goshen 5-0.  With the win, the lions tennis team secured at least a share of the SBAAC conference title.  Winners for the lions included;


1st Singles: Matt Rydzewski: 7-6(2), 6-4

2nd Singles: Zach Manning: 6-0, 6-0

3rd Singles: David Ohntrup: 6-0, 6-0

1st Doubles: Clint Lytle/Henry Heidlage: 6-3, 6-1

2nd Doubles: Evan McKinley/Ben Green won by forfeit

The tennis team's current record stands at 10-6.  The lions play Taylor next Tuesday and their final match against Batavia on Wednesday.  Both matches are at home.  Come out and support the team as they finish off a great season.

JV LADY LIONS SOFTBALL

Congratulations to the JV Softball Team on their victory against Goshen last night 23-16.  Great pitching and catching was done by Aly Skaggs and Kelsey Kirschner.  Rbi hitters of the game were Michaela Nordyke with 4, Aly Skaggs with 2, Hannah Slye with 6, April Schmidt with 2, Lindsay Slone with 1 and Carrie Buckley 1.  Big hitters of the game were Aly Skaggs with a double, Hannah Slye 3 singles and a triple, Laura Sacco 1 double and April Schmidt with 3 singles and a triple.  Many more singles were hit by Christin Smith, Rachel Zawacki, Christin Gray and Emily Hosler but the play of the game goes to Lew Watkins who had an overwhelming amount of catches in the centerfield and threw out a runner going home from centerfield.  This was the last jv game of the season and the Lady Lions ended with a record of 8 wins and 8 losses.

New Richmond Boys Tennis Team Defeats Bethel 5-0, Plays Against Goshen For Conference Title

The New Richmond boys tennis team defeated a good Bethel squad 5 - 0 last night to remain one win away from a conference championship.  The NR tennis team plays Goshen tomorrow in their final conference match of the season.  Winners for the lions included;


1st Singles: Matt Rydzewski: 6-3, 6-3

2nd Singles: Zach Manning: 6-0, 2-6, 6-0

3rd Singles: David Ohntrup: 6-1, 6-1


Doubles

Clint Lytle/ Newton McCullom: 6-1, 6-3

Ben Green/Evan McKinley (NR): 6-1, 6-1

With the win the lion's tennis team improved to 9 - 6 on the season and 8 - 1 in the conference.

New Richmond Boys Tennis Team Defeats Western Brown 3 - 1, Controls Own Destiny For Conference Title

The New Richmond boys tennis team avenged an early season loss to the previously undefeated (8 -0 conference, 14-2 overall) Western Brown broncos.  With the win, the lions improve to 8 - 6 on the season and can become conference champions with wins over Bethel and Goshen next Wednesday and Thursday.  Winners for the lions included;

2nd Singles: Zach Manning: 6-2, 6-0

3rd Singles: David Ohntrup: 6-0, 6-0

1st Doubles: Henry Heidlage & Clint Lytle led 6-4, 5-3 before rain

2nd Doubles: Evan McKinley & Ben Green: 6-2, 6-2

VARSITY BASEBALL DEFEATS GOSHEN, WINS SBC, EARNS # 1 SEED IN CINCINNATI SECTIONAL

The Varsity Baseball Team defeated the Goshen Warriors yesterday by the score of 3 to 1 to wrap up SBC play. Austin Skaggs pitched a complete game gem, scattering 5 hits through 7 innings. Tanner Wolfe and Nathan Dixon led the offense, each with 2 hits. With yesterday's win, the Lions secured a tie for 1st place in the very tough SBC American division. With a season record of now 18-4, the Lions have also been voted as the # 1 seed in the upcoming Cincinnati sectional tournament. Go Lions!

JV BASEBALL HITS 21 WIN MARK!

The JV Baseball team defeated Goshen yesterday by the score of 10 to 1. The win guarantees the JV Lions sole possession of 1st place in the SBC American division with a league record of 9-1. Their overall record is 21-2 with two games remaining. The 21 wins and counting places this JV team as the winningest JV squad in the past 20 years, and perhaps in the school's history! Great job to the players and coaches of this young and talented JV team.

NR Boys at Goshen Invitational

Congratulations go to the boys track and field team on their 2nd place finish against 8 total teams at the Goshen Invitational Friday, April 27th. Senior Jake Gundler was awarded top field event performer of the meet for winning the pole vault competition and recording his new PR of 12-06. Senior Alex Ariapad was awarded top male performer of the meet for winning the 1600meter run, the 800meter run, and anchoring the 4x400 team with a 2nd place finish.
