Close Division Win for Lady Lions

The Lady Lions Girls Basketball Team defeated division rival Amelia at home last night by a score of 34-33. Amelia's tough zone defense collapsed on the inside and was effective in stopping the inside game throughout much of the game, but left shooters open on the outside. Sarah Shoemaker connected on 3 treys on her way to a game-high 13 points while Courtney Grogan hit 2 from long range to stretch the defense. Josie Buckingham scored 6 points but had 6 big blocks and 11 rebounds shutting down the inside for Amelia. Bailey Workman provided an offensive spark in the 4th quarter scoring all 6 of her points during the frame. The win improves their record to 6-1 in the SBAAC American and 12-3 overall.
